The Effects of Elastic Modulus on the Relative Story Displacement Limitations

چکیده

In practice, concrete compression strength is used to compute the elastic modulus of concrete. For this calculation, various formulations are given in different codes. For a given concrete compressive strength, elastic modulus values calculated using different equations given in the codes could vary. In the present study, upper and lower boundaries of elasticity modulus are calculated using fuzzy logic algorithm. These values are compared with the values calculated from the different codes. This comparison is realized using a sample frame and a frame-shear wall structure designed according to Turkish Earthquake Code-1997. Based on the comparative results, the effects of determining the elasticity moduli boundary on relative story displacement limitations given by Turkish Earthquake Code-1997 are investigated. Results are given in comparative figures.
